Hi beautiful

It's been nearly 6 months since my last post! Having a break from the world :-).

Life goes in circles. After a couple of years, I find myself returning to my love of making with paper. I've been exploring junk journaling - creating journals with a selection of everyday papers. I particularly love the scrappy aged look and recently played with tea stained papers and card leftovers to make this birthday card for a wonderful spunky lady.

New for me was using machine sewing as a feature and including a fabric scrap as an embellishment. (That's the textile influence of the last 2 years!) The tea staining gives the paper a gorgeous crackling sound as well as a warm aged look.

I'm loving being back with paper, glue, distress inks …..

French Country Journal

Hi beautiful

Over the summer on the hot days, I've been enjoying some papercraft. This past couple of weeks, the leftovers of my French Country papers and stickers and recycled manilla folders have come together to make a journal.

The manilla folder card formed the base pages (6"x 8") with the Graphic 45 papers and ephemera providing the magic. I machined stitched the borders of feature pages and used a variety of pockets and tags.

My week in craft: 24 - 31 Jan

Hi beautiful

This week has been quieter than usual on the craft front. Maybe the summer heat has caught up with me... Go slow...

As a nation, we celebrated Australia Day on Tuesday 26th. I reflected on my ancestors who first came to these shores over 150 years ago. Humble people - shepherd, agricultural labourer, whitesmith, sapper, weaver, carpenter.

The summer storms and rains kicked in. I enjoyed the drop in temperature after one downpour, going for a walk in my neighbourhood. Snapshots captured on camera.

This year, thought I'd try more of a monthly calendar look to my art jornalling. Here's February - a traditional look.

January

Catching up with my sister yesterday, she wondered what had happened to my blog. Good question.

I'd wanted to update the look and feel - had got a little tired of the year old one. As you know, time flies and here I am today, biting the bullet of procrastination.

I reassured her I'd still been splashing paint around, glueing and generally having a good time with my stash.

To prove it, here's the January labour of love - Holiday memories using recycled manilla folders.
