It's Valentine's Day and that means hearts!

This week I added a Butterfly Heart display to my heart collection. 

Butterfly Hearts

Fun to make from pretty cardstock. (Kaisercraft Summer Breeze). I used 4 different stencils to draw the outlines, hand cut, stitched in pairs and glued to lengths of ribbons. Voila - my February heart installation.

It's surprising how many hearts I have in my home!

The angel girl is purchased - a couple of years ago in historic Beechworth, Victoria. She hangs from my craft room doorknob. The vintage buttons heart I made a few years ago, using buttons from my Mother's button tin!

By the Sea - photo plaque

Thanks to Jane Tregenza workshop for a wonderful time creating this miniature plaque using Graphic 45 By the Sea papers. I loved all the embellishments Jane included in this kit - the tiny bottle filled with beads, the anchor, the sea horse key are just a few. Love the little medallion inscribed with the words "may you always have a shell in your pocket and sand between your toes".

My week in craft: 24 - 31 Jan

Hi beautiful

This week has been quieter than usual on the craft front. Maybe the summer heat has caught up with me... Go slow...

As a nation, we celebrated Australia Day on Tuesday 26th. I reflected on my ancestors who first came to these shores over 150 years ago. Humble people - shepherd, agricultural labourer, whitesmith, sapper, weaver, carpenter.

The summer storms and rains kicked in. I enjoyed the drop in temperature after one downpour, going for a walk in my neighbourhood. Snapshots captured on camera.

My week in craft: 17- 23 Jan

Hi beautiful,

I'm writing this in my garden on a balmy 28 degrees Sunday morning. Refreshing south easterlies blow; all is well in my world.

This past week has been filled with wonderful moments - reading the poems of Robert Frost, chatting with friends, browsing through bookstores and crafting! 

A highlight of my craft week was beginning my journey in learning locker hooking. The hook arrived on Thursday and I'm loving it! I'm practising the technique on the square of canvas prepared last week. The strips are made from old sheets torn into widths of 1/2" (the locker thread) and 1" (the loops). The result is a lovely soft squishy mat which looks quite pretty.

Another delight has been reading a magazine titled "Flow". It's tag line is "Celebrating creativity, imperfection and life's little pleasures". Produced in the Netherlands it is simply amazing. Great articles all beautifully illustrated and incredible tear out pages. In issue 11, there is a timeline lift out. I had fun adding my details and going overboard with stickers! My inner child really came to the fore. I've tucked it inside the front cover of my journal. Highly recommended magazine!

My week in craft: Jan 3 - 9

Hi beautiful

A new year requires a refresh of how I capture my craft activity. Thought I'd commit weekly to " My Week of Craft" image. So here we are with Week 1!

Week 1

1. Recycling old t-shirts - cutting into strips and dyeing light strips. 

2 & 5. Captured images on t- shirts before cutting! Memories of past holiday at Brampton Island and participating in Masters Games 2006.

3. Yarn chosen for next scarf - gorgeous colours like molten lava. Wool appropriately named Vesuvius. 

4 & 6. Warping up for Vesuvius scarf.
