Me, myself and I

Hi beautiful,

I have recently been indulging in the delights of Sibella Court's books. Bowerbird, Gypsy, Nomad and Etc. are the four she has published to date. I so identify with her love of the everyday and gathering the warmth of the memories around you as a cosy shawl.

She writes so honestly. I quote from one of her books "Seek out beauty and meaning in everything, then embrace and display it."

In her book "Etc" she writes a short verse titled "Me".

This verse inspired me to write my own. Here it is.

I think in many directions,
I see in colour and sound.
I am a gatherer and collector,
A keeper of memories.
I observe the everyday, the humble.
I am a thinker,
A creator of the tangible.

I am vulnerable,
Sensitive.
I hurt easily,
My skin is thin,
transparent at times.

I am confident,
strong.
I hug easily,
My love is real,
genuine always.

With love
Cara.

Jacaranda blooming

Spring greetings!

It's almost October and the jacaranda is starting to pop its beautiful lavender blossoms - a reminder to all students that exams are approaching. Thunderstorms begin to roll through in mid afternoon.
Grey skies a backdrop to jacaranda

This is always an encouraging time of year for me - the days begin to lengthen, temperatures rise to bring the scent of summer.

Low hanging cloud over the east,
Lightning flashes,
Thunder rolls its drum.
Soft muted Sunday afternoon.

Enjoy nature's wonder, wherever you may be.

Love Cara.

Twilight silhouettes

Bridge from light to darkness
Nature settling to evening rest
Chattering pine trees
Drifting clouds backlit.

Sunset

Transitioning

light to dark

work to home.

Burning orange globe

slowly sinking

as the sky embers.

Work to home.

Driving home on Thursday, what a wondrous sight; the sun so close and low, I could almost touch it.

Silhouetted against the rooftops and trees of Ashmore.

Fragrant Gardenia

Gardenia beauty in my garden

Discovered in duo

Fragrance and purity.

Wedding bouquet

Red roses

White gardenia

Heavenly perfume.

Alphabet fun

My first alphabet! Well,  if you ignore primary school "A" is for Apple and calligraphy practice.

Following examples of Julie Balzer. Especially like the  Picasso inspired "O".

More alphabets to come, I think.

There are alphabet poems! Can you guess the formula?

" A brave Cara discovered enjoyment
fully going happily into Julie's kaliedscopic luscious mosaic.
Not only promising quirky rich succulent text
unknown virtually
wickedly xylographic
yet Zen..."

Communicate wisely

A pen writes a picture,
It draws it in your mind.
Everything is color,
It's there for you to find.

Verse is words of feeling,
The opening of a soul.

There’s sedation in composing,
It's gentleness within.
It's a way of offering something
To those who will listen in.

Medieval Day

Birds of prey
downy owls.

Busy markets
hurdy gurdy winds and winds.

Floating headgear
of all kinds.

Gunpowder cannons boom and boom.

Archers aim and knights in battle.
Jousting cheers
horses gallop.

Le Jardin

Bright colours
Garden splash.
Yellow here
Red purple there.

Draw strength and light
from the brightness of nature's gifts.

Garden of Bliss

Day blooms

with colour

with movement.

Sunlight brightens

and dapples.

Simple bliss.

Time is

Time is
but the stream
I go a-fishing in.

I drink at it;
but while I drink,
I see the sandy bottom
and detect how shallow it is.

Its thin current slides away,
but eternity remains.

I would drink deeper;
fish in the sky,
whose bottom is pebbly with stars.

Forest mist

Natural Arch
Languid hot summer day
stormy sky
panting puppy
dreaming of cool forest mists
and pounding rain.

Life is

Skye

You ask why
spring shines through time,
the sun plays with the moon.

The wind whispers
Life is......

Sunday morning

Clean blue sky
     filtered by palm fronds.
Crisp clean after rain.
Stillness of morning.
Bird chatter sprinkling
    absolute quiet.

8:30am Sunday 2 October 2011

Thunderstorms au matin

Thunder rolling through the heavens
Like a truckload of water tanks

Soft falling rain
Muffling and enclosing
Like a cocoon

Crisp cool air
Fresh and invigorating
With my morning coffee

Smiling

Smiling....
Looking out my window
Sun setting, glowing

Satisfied at a good day's work
Nurturing and supporting people and their aspirations.

Grateful.

(Written at 6pm at my office desk, October 2011)

Barefoot

Barefoot on soft warm sand
Slowly into shallows of a warm lagoon
Feeling the warming comfort of water wrap me in its cocoon of love

Slowly lowering... Warm water over my head
Rising and floating in a lagoon of love.
Looking upward into a deep blue sky, drifting clouds.

Peace
Breathe in
Breathe out
At peace
Still.
