In all the preparations for Christmas, I managed to make myself a rag doll, my first too. I was inspired by the book "The Making of a Rag Doll" by Jess Brown. The book was so well laid out with patterns for the doll and clothing and very easy to follow instructions. 

Let me introduce you to my Hannah.

I've always wanted to make a rag doll and now I have. So thrilled how she turned out. There are a few more outfits to make - an overcoat, a drawstring dress. For now, she's brightening up my Christmas day in her splendid red outfit.

Demelza - maid of the forest

Hi beautiful

The Beauty of the forest greets you today. Demelza, Maid of the Forest is resplendent in her rich autumn colours.

 She's a little out of her environment on this Christmas mat!

Demelza stands about 8" tall. Needle felted wool on an acrylic felt base, embellished with embroidery and buttons. Strong and sturdy - polyester filling and weighted at the base with sachet of lead shot. Her face was outlined in black pen, coloured with pencils with stitching for eyebrows and nose.

Inspiration came from an article by Sarah Lawrence, titled "Soulful Divas" in the (June/July?) issue of Spotlight's online Get Creative magazine. I used the template and one of the face designs.
