Traditional red and green of Christmas

Well here we are in December, counting down to Christmas. 

The colours of Christmas - I'm a conservative when it comes to Christmas colours. This year I've found myself gravitating once again to the traditional red and green. They are my favorites. 

Here are a few makings so far, all featuring the green and red.

Christmas is coming!

Hi

Did you know that Christmas Day is only 67 days away!! Even the garden shrub is wearing the red and green of traditional Christmas.

Time to start getting a few projects underway.

Exploring the wonders of weaving on a very "rustic" loom, we have this very primitive style miniature hanging. I rather like it. The first sign of Christmas in the house.

Christmas gift tags

Christmas Eve saw the gift tag making for family. 

Inspired by tags in Kristina Werner's Holiday Card Series http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/, these snowflake tags were the result. 

Merry Christmas on the front and "to from" details on the red card back.

Christmas cards

Two different styles of cards this year. 

The red and gold set were inspired by a kit I purchased from Arnold's Scrapbooking in Rothwell. The finished product on display looked so lovely, I just had to buy the kit. All materials were provided and some pieces were pre-cut. They turned out beautifully.

The other set I made used Kaisercraft papers. 

Happy card making was had. It's always a fun time of year crafting for Christmas. Hope you had fun too.

Advent cards

Well Christmas has come and gone and I get time to put my feet up and update this blog!

In the previous post I shared the Christmas boxes I'd made. Inside was a set of Advent cards, counting from Day 1 to Day 25. I recycled old cards for the front of each card and used various christmas papers for the back. 

Here's Day 1 of one of the sets I made. 

The cards stand in a wooden base, made by hubby.

Nilda got very creative and made a display! Very clever.

These were a lot of fun to make and can be reused each year. Happy Christmas.

Christmas Wreath

I had great fun making this wreath. Ever since I'd seen the artwork that is possible from the humble toilet roll, I wanted to give this a go. 

Tada.... Added the final button embellishments to each of the flowers this afternoon. 

To hang on a door or wall, a scaffold such as a few nails is needed. This photo shows the wreath resting on the table. The wreath is now presented on an old wooden frame.  

It's quite addictive making this artwork. Lots of stunning pieces to look at on the web. Just search toilet roll artwork.

We all took turns, one present one person at a time. Time for us to admire  and comment on each present!

Advent Calendar

Lots of fun over a few weekends, making this. (A Kaiser Craft product.)

Today the tree was constructed; outside walls papered and gold paint edges added.














The tree is a 2D version of Greg Sukendro's
Folded Tree (Stamping, Papercraft & Cardmaking Vol 18 No11). 


I'll post each of the drawers as we move through Advent.

It's Christmas craft time....

First project of the season - a tree using recycled stamps. 

I had fun mixing and matching various nativity scenes.
