Hi beautiful
I've had a wonderful craft week, learning new things, beginning projects, projects in progress and even finishing one! Yay!
I must say, now that I'm a lady of leisure, I relish the "no pressure, no deadlines" world. I look at the many craft challenges that are out there - those with themes using a certain media/products to be done in a day/week/month and while I like the idea of creating and sharing with others, they're just not for me at this time. Who knows, there may come a time when I crave some pressure..... Hmmmm....
So back to my week in craft.
Firstly - learning something new - locker hooking. While meandering through Pinterest, I stumbled upon this craft which is similar to rug hooking. It was popular in 1920's in UK and 1940's in USA. I'm always intrigued with little known crafts. As always there's always YouTube video clips which explain it all just beautifully. Here's one which gives an overview, Locker Hooking
An essential tool is the locker hook - crochet hook one end and needle eye the other end. Now this isn't readily available locally. While waiting patiently for the hook ordered online, I've prepared some squares ready for the day when my tool arrives in the post.

I've also eyed off the range of batik fabric in the craft store. These would be just gorgeous to use as the fabric strips. For now, I'll use my old sheets and fabric stash!

Secondly, a project in progress! The t-shirt strips are being woven into a circular rug.

What a beautiful scarf! Great combo of color palette and evocative name. :) My creative activity for Saturday was knitting (no post, yet), so it was gratifying to see a craft post at Creative Every Day--please imagine me waving you a fiber-friendly wave!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the wave :-)Look forward to the knitting post.
