This past week I've been enjoying the art of rug making using crochet. I went along to a class which got me started. Kylee was the instructor. Check out her Facebook site to see the great rugs she makes.

And here's my first rug.
It's 90cm wide and weighs 2.5kg. I was aiming for a metre wide rug but ran out of matching fabric. It took quite a bit of fabric - 3 pillowcases, 2 single sheets, 1.5 queen size sheets, 1 doona cover. This is a great way to recycle your old worn linen. My linen cupboard is very thankful for the extra room.
I learnt a bit along the way, experimenting with different techniques - for joining the strips, cutting vs tearing, width of strip. Quite enthralling.
I'd like to try crochet baskets next and of course do another rug. Still plenty of worn linen to use.
There's always something new to learn in the craft world. Have fun!
Love Cara.
